We have all likely experienced both sides of a common breakdown in communication. On one end, you may have been the parent, teacher, coach, supervisor, or employer delivering instructions, only for one of two frustrating outcomes to occur: either the other person failed to hear you entirely, or they acknowledged your request and promised to follow through, but never actually did. On the flip side, you may have been the person on the receiving end who merely feigned listening, made a hollow promise, or chose to ignore what was being said to you altogether.
