Evidence Of A Changed Life
Here in the first chapter of his letter to the Christians in Asia Minor, Peter has been using our new lives in Christ as the basis for a new behavior. “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”” (1 Peter 1:14–16, NASB95) , In verse 17, we found him saying, “conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth.” This morning, here in our text, we find him adding one more thing to his list of new behaviors in which we as Christians should engage. It is in the form of a single command. It is found at the end of verse 22: “fervently love one another from the heart” (NASB95).
