Why Will Sins Be Revealed In Judgment
“How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!” (Psalm 32:1, NASB95)
At the time David wrote these words, the amount of a debt which you might owe someone was etched onto the surface of a stone or piece of pottery. When your debt was paid, wax was melted into the etching thus covering it and indicating the debt was no longer owed.
Our sins are a debt which we owe to God. David sees every one of them as having been etched onto an imaginary stone which represents our past. However, when God forgives our debt of sin, He covers over the etching, not with melted wax, but with something much more precious, the blood of His only Son, Jesus.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7, NASB95)
