What Do You Think, Did Jesus Deserve Death?
The Scriptures present us with plenty of information that would lead to the unanimous conclusion, “No, Jesus did not deserve death.”
He was without sin (Hebrews 4:15).
He “committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth” (1 Peter 2:22).
He fulfilled the law (Matthew 5:17).
He was obedient to His human parents (Luke 2:51) and His Heavenly Father (John 17:4).
Pilate concluded from his examination; "I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him; 15 no, neither did Herod, for I sent you back to him; and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him."
The wife of Pilate “sent (Pilate) a message, saying, ‘Have nothing to do with
that righteous Man…” (Matthew 27:19).
One of the thieves crucified alongside Him said, "we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
After Jesus breathed His last ‘the centurion saw what had happened, he began praising God, saying, ‘Certainly this man was innocent’” (Luke 23:47).
Jesus had to die for the sins of the world because He was the only appropriate sacrifice. He did not deserve death. We do not deserve forgiveness.
God’s love made a way for His Son to be glorified and the world to be redeemed.
