What A Difference He Makes In Our Lives!
Have you ever known someone with news so good that they just couldn’t keep it to themselves (i.e., marriage, birth of a child or grandchild, victory in some contest, finally achieving a long sought after goal).
In the middle of chapter five of Luke’s gospel we find two such men who just couldn’t keep quiet about what Jesus had done for them:
One was a leper (Luke 5:12-16)
a. Jesus healed him and then “sternly warned him” to “say nothing to anyone”
(Mark 1:43, 44, ESV).
b. Instead “went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news” (Mark 1:45, ESV).
c. The result was that “Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city” but had to stay “out in unpopulated areas” because people “were coming to Him from everywhere” (Mark 1:45).
The other was a paralytic (Luke 5:17-26).
a. He was brought to Jesus by his friends.
b. After Jesus healed him, he “picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God” (Luke 5:25).
