This Life Is Not All There Is
In the last week of Jesus’ life upon this earth before His crucifixion, He was challenged by different groups who attempted to trap Him in a statement and thus discredit Him or else bring about His death:
a. First it was the chief priests, scribes and elders who questioned His authority (Mark 11:27-33).
b. Then it was the Pharisees and Herodians who asked Him about the paying of the poll tax to Rome (Mark 12:13-17)
Neither group was successful in their purpose, so along comes a third group, the Sadducees, who have a question of their own. It is a question which involves a bride for seven brothers and targets Jesus teaching on the resurrection.
As we look at this group who challenged Jesus, their question and Jesus’ answer I want to encourage each of you to consider the one undeniable truth which reaches out to us 2,000 years later.
