In our study of different Old Testament notaries, it has been a while since we have looked at one of women. Tonight, I would like to direct your attention to 1 Kings 17, and to a woman of no name. We know her simply as “the widow of Zarephath”, a Phoenician woman with a son. It is to her that God sends His prophet Elijah and it is what happens when they first meet which forms the basis of our lesson this evening. In the demonstration of her great faith we find valuable application for our own lives. Follow with me as we examine Elijah’s encounter with this “woman of great faith”.
