The Spirit We All Need More Than Once A Year
Since the fifth century, men have been writing Christmas carols and hymns to praise God for the birth of His Son. These carols are all hymns of worship. Over the last two months or so we have heard many speak about the Christmas spirit, but what is it? Is it fun? Is it fellowship? Is it giving?? What is it? I realize that we don’t know when God’s Son was born into this world, but setting that aside for a moment this morning, I would like for you to examine with me the reactions by various people in Scripture to His birth: a.) Elizabeth (Luke 1:41) b). Zacharias (Luke 1:67) c.) Angels (Luke 2:13) d.) Shepherds (Luke 2:20) e.) Simeon (Luke 2:25) f.) Anna (Luke 2:36). All of these had the same basic response to the announcement of Jesus’ birth — it was a response of worship.
