The Rest of the Story
Over 2,000 years ago Jesus left His place at His Father’s side to come to this earth. This past week, many have rejoiced in His birth, and it is fitting for us to rejoice in His birth, for without His birth, we would have no hope of salvation. But know this, that unlike all of us, Jesus knew what awaited Him at the end of His time here — a lonely crucifixion on a hill outside Jerusalem. There, He laid down His life to save us. Notice what Paul wrote in Philippians 2:9-11, “for this reason” — because all that Jesus did on our behalf, God highly exalted Him — He “bestowed on Him the name with is above every name.” One day, at the end of time as we know it, every one of us will bow in His presence and each one will confess “that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Many will do so in deep admiration for our Lord and King. All others will do so either in great shame or out of the realization that He alone rules over all creation. In which group will you be?
