Revive Us, O Lord
William Paton Mackay was only 24 years old when he wrote one of our most beloved hymns in 1863. Over the years it has been known by at least three names: a. One name is from the first line of the first stanza — “We Praise Thee, O God” b. Another title is taken from the chorus — “Hallelujah, Thine The Glory” c. The third name is from the first line of the fourth stanza — “Revive Us Again”.
Listen to the rest of the words to this fourth stanza and what we are asking the Lord to do: Revive us again — fill each heart with thy love; May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.
Luke shares with us the greatest revival ever as God breaks into history with the coming of His Son, our Savior, into the world.
If our community, our state and our country is to be spared God’s terrifying judgment for our many sins, we desperately need true revival.
This being said, there are two important points I would like for you to consider this morning.
