Needed: More Calebs
In the midst of the growing pessimism, Caleb dared to disagree with the report made by the majority. He demonstrated great boldness and confidence in God’s promises as he “quieted he people” and said “We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it” (Numbers 13:30). For the moment, Joshua remained quiet and allowed Caleb to do the talking. Caleb stood out in this moment as a man of great courage and boldness, one willing to face threatening situations head-on.
