Lord Plant My Feet on Higher Ground
I am convinced that so much of our struggle as Christians is that we walk by sight and not by faith.
We believe in that which we can hear, see, smell, taste, and touch.
I believe that all of us struggle from time to time with doubts and fears in our lives, just as those who followed our Lord.
Do you have doubts in your heart? Concerning . . .
a. The truth of Scripture?
b. Your salvation?
b. God’s love for you?
In addition to the doubts, are there fears which plague your soul?
On two different occasions, Jesus addressed those who were worried about the circumstances in their lives (cf. Matthew 6:25-34; Luke 12:22-32).
We are no different from those who listened to him almost 2,000 years ago.
Our inability to control so many things in our lives produces worry and fear in our lives.
Know, this morning, that the God who . . .
a. Has willed that the kingdom be ours
b. Saved eight souls in the midst of a world wide flood.
c. Parted a sea so that an entire nation might pass through on dry ground in one night, before closing that sea and destroying a pursuing army.
d. Said “Peace be still” to a raging sea while His disciples shrank in fear.
e. Arose from the dead, thus destroying its power.
. . . is the God who brings peace to our troubled hearts.
His desire is that you and I not soil our lives with sin here on this earth, but that we strive for higher ground, a place where righteousness dwells.
