“Let Us Pray”
I like to listen to other people pray — especially do I like to listen to the things for which they pray. I always want to improve my own prayer life. One of the best ways to learn how to pray is to consider the prayers of the apostles.
Paul is perhaps our best example. There are several places in his letters where he includes his prayer.
Here are just a few:
a. Ephesians 1:18-19; 3:14-19
b. Philippians 1:9-11
c. Colossians 1:9-12
Do you notice a common theme in these prayers — the focus of each one is upon the saints in that particular community and their growth and maturity as the chosen of God.
Today, we have yet another prayer which Paul prays — this one on behalf of the saints in Thessalonica.
As we examine this prayer, let us ask ourselves, “Are my prayers like this? Are these things my concern as I pray to my Father in heaven?”
