I Want To Be More Like Jesus
Do you remember, as a child, pretending to be like someone you admired?
Perhaps it was a great person in history, or an athlete or maybe a super hero or fairy tale princess. You went around pretending to be that person — even dressing the part if possible. You worked at imitating them — their walk, talk and other mannerisms. Why did you do this? Because you admired them and that for which they stood.
For many of you, the one you most wanted to be like was your Dad or your Mom.
a. As you grew, others began to take note that you walked like your Dad or talked like your Mom.
b. When they went somewhere, you wanted to go with them.
In our reading today, there is someone else that Paul calls upon each of us to imitate — it is our Lord Jesus Christ. Let me draw your minds to two verses which were read just a moment ago — Philippians 2:3-4.
