Counting the cost is important in any financial endeavor. Before buying an automobile it is important to ask yourself not only if you can afford the monthly payments of that automobile, but also the insurance, fuel, tires and maintenance costs throughout the time you will own the vehicle. One of these items, the cost of insurance is apparently something which many car owners do not consider when purchasing an automobile. Almost 13% of those driving a vehicle in the U.S. are currently uninsured. Here in Tennessee, the percentage is much higher, 23.7%, or almost 1 in 4 drivers. (Https://www.simplyinsurance.com) Before buying a home, there a number of factors which need to be considered as well. Mortgage payments, insurance, property taxes, utilities, maintenance and improvements are all a part of home ownership. Failure to consider these things may result in the loss of that home or the inability to maintain it. In our text this morning, Jesus has much to say about our counting the cost before we make the decision to follow Him.
