Finding Favor In God’s Eyes
You don't get very far in the book of Genesis before God's creation, which He declared to be "very good" (Genesis 1:31) turns very bad. It began with the sin in the garden and God's first couple, Adam and Eve, being removed from the paradise which God had created for them.
At some point after the arrival of their first two sons, jealousy began to afflict the first family and the older, Cain, in anger killed his younger brother, Abel. Then cam Lamech, a descendant of Cain, who killed a young man for striking him.
By the time you come to Genesis 6, God's Spirit can no longer tolerate what He sees in His creation because the wickedness of man had become very great on the earth (Genesis 6:5). And "every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."
The Earth had become "filled with violence" (Genesis 6:13).
In the midst of all this chaos and violence, there was one man who stood out in the crowd, a man who found favor (grace) in God's eyes.
