Baptism is a public declaration that you are making a distinct break with your past life. Becoming a Christian means burning all your bridges to your past life of sin. Whatever the sins of your past life may have been — you died to those sins — you must no longer live in them. Sin no longer holds you in its power, you no longer have to obey it, you are free! You have been raised up in Christ to walk in newness of life, what does your new life look like?
