Does American Really Have a Christian Heritage?
Why does America not teach the Bible in its public schools? Let's look back in time at the founding fathers of the United States of America. By taking that look deeper we will see that George Washing, John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Patrick Henry all were quoted saying that the Christianity should be the foundation of our country. And Benjamin Rush, who was over public education, said that the Bible should be used to teach our children.
"The Bible, when not read in schools, is seldom read in any subsequent period of life…The Bible… should be read in our schools in preference to all other books because it contains the greatest portion of that kind of knowledge which is calculated to produce private and public happiness."
