Christmas?
Upon hearing the noun “Christmas” everyone has an idea, their own understanding for what that term means.
A basic definition for “Christmas” is given as follows: “the annual festival of the Christian church commemorating the birth of Jesus: celebrated on December 25 and now generally observed as a legal holiday and an occasion for exchanging gifts.”
Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines “Christmas” as “a Christian feast on December 25 or among some Eastern Orthodox Christians on January 7 that commemorates the birth of Christ and is usually observed as a legal holiday.”
What is so interesting about this celebration is the division it causes (religiously) while honoring One who called for religious unity.
