Mercy
At the beginning of our study this year, we learned that "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host." (Psalm 33:6)
In Genesis 1:31 Moses writes of God's assessment of His creation, "God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good."
However, Satan introduced sin into God's perfect world through Adam and Eve thus also bringing down God's wrath upon mankind.
Instead of pouring out the totality of His wrath upon sinful mankind, God revealed another aspect of His character, grace.
Another word enters into the mix:
It is a word which first of all speaks again to God's character. But secondly, it is a word which should be descriptive of our character as Christians as well.
It is the word mercy.
