Reconciled by God’s Love
As Christians we celebrate Christ's resurrection, but we do it every Sunday, not just one Sunday out of the year, because our faith is centered in this event of history. The one fact which no one can simply explain away is that the tomb where Jesus was laid following His crucifixion was empty that morning and His body has never been found. The reason for this was stated by one of the angels at the tomb, "He is not here for He has risen, just as He said." (Matthew 28:6).
We read the details of all the events which took place and the different characters involved. But there is one who was present throughout the whole ordeal - God. As a matter of fact, He was present from the very beginning - what Scripture calls "the foundation of the world" (John 17:24; Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 1:20). He is the one that I want us to consider in this lesson. I would like for us to look at and contemplate what our salvation cost the God of Heaven.
