The Truth of Salvation
There are many thing about our salvation which fascinate us. The fact that we are the “elect” or “chosen” of God (1:1) That we have been “born again to a living hope” (1:3) And, awaiting us in heaven is an imperishable, undefiled inheritance (1:4). Also, we are the possessors of a joy "inexpressible and full of glory" (1:8).
However, there are also many aspects of our salvation which confound us. The great love of God. The incarnation of the Christ. The suffering of Christ. The providence of God in bringing about our salvation.
We are not alone in our quandry. As Peter seeks to encourage Christian who are being persecuted for their faith, he shares with them some truths about their salvation giving them reason to rejoice.
