What Does It Mean To Repent?
Repentance is "sorrow".
2 Corinthians 7:9-10 shows that repentance is an outcome of sorrow. Sorrow leads to repentance; sorrow itself is not repentance
That repentance is "a changed life". Some believe that repentance and a changed life are one in the same. But Acts 3:19 reveals that repentance and conversion are two separate things:
“Therefore repent and return (be converted, NKJV), so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;” (Acts 3:19, NASB95)
Peter says "Repent therefore and return (be converted, NKJV)" If repentance is the same as conversion, then Peter is being redundant As we shall see, the order is actually this:
1) First, sorrow
2) Then, repentance
3) Finally, a changed life
