Triumphing Over Temptation
This morning, as we examine these three temptations which Satan uses against Jesus, there are two things to notice about each temptation: a. What is at the heart of each temptation — how can we relate to Jesus struggle? b. How did Jesus overcome the temptation? And how do we overcome the temptations in our own lives?
Today, are these temptations with which you struggle: a. Are you following Jesus only for what He can do for you? b. Are you looking for a faith which pleases the senses and awes the crowd. c. Do you want a Christianity which doesn’t stand out so much in the world — one which doesn’t draw attention to you because you are different and stand for different values. If any of this is true of you then the devil has lived up to his reputation — the great deceiver has led you down the wrong path — one which leads to destruction. On the other hand, if you see danger in these temptations and choose rather to reject them, then Christ is calling you today. Will you follow Him?
