Surprises in the Synagogue
Have you ever thought about what you expect to happen when you walk into a service here? Three songs, Bible reading, prayer, song, sermon, invitation song, Lord’s Supper, collection, concluding song and prayer. Do you expect someone to stand up and object to the message? Do you expect to encounter someone with opposing views to those you hold? What if someone stood up and screamed during the sermon? One day while Jesus was at a synagogue in Capernaum, there were many surprises.
Jesus Christ is still “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He holds “all authority in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). God has “put all things in subjection under His feet” (Ephesians 1:22). You and I serve a risen Savior who holds all power — will we not tell the world about Him.
