Prophets were "individuals called and empowered by God to declare His will to His people, including the disclosure of His future intentions to save and judge His people. God called the prophets not to be just spokesmen for Him, they were also writers who recorded the acts of kings, the words which God spoke to them, and visions they received. Prophecy carry the connotation of speaking, proclaiming, or announcing something under influence of divine inspiration.
