God Wants Your Heart

Passage: Mark 7:1-13

God's Word has a great deal to say about our heart. In Psalm 15:1, David, who by the way was a man after God's own heart, asks the question, "O Lord, who may abide in Your tent" Who may dwell on Your Holy Hill?" He answers in the next verse with these words, "He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart." At the end of Psalm 19, David prays, "Let the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." In Psalm 24:3, David asks a similar question to that of Psalm 15, "Who may ascent into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His Holy Place?" The answer is also similar to that of Psalm 15, "He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully." In Psalm 51 David confesses his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband and begs God to "Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

True worship of God must be genuine and not superficial. It is your individual attitude toward the greatness and glory of God. It is according to the way we understand truth. It is realistic and is something which goes on in the human heart.
