Developing The Heart Of The Father
“But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.” (Luke 15:32, NASB95)
In other words, he is saying, “he is not just my son, he is your brother.” It is not only appropriate that we celebrate, it is necessary — it is morally right. A dead brother is now alive. That which was lost has been found. This should cause us to rejoice, not ask questions about fairness.
How do we respond to those who repent and come home? Do we welcome them with open arms and rejoice at their return? Or, do we hold them at arm’s length, resentful of their repentance, hoping they will fail? Whether you are struggling with sins of passion or attitude, our Father patiently pleads with you to come home. He is waiting to welcome you home!
