A Christian Is Redeemed from a Futile Way of Life

Preacher:
Passage: 1 Peter 1:17-21
Service Type:

There is a beautiful power we have in prayer which I am afraid we too often neglect to realize. It is in our prayers that we "draw near with confidence (boldness) to [God's] throne of grace" where "we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). It is in our prayers that we "bow [our knees] before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name" (Ephesians 3:14-15). It is because we are sons and daughters of God that He "has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts" so that we call out to Him we can address Him as "Abba! Father!" (Galatians 4:6)

Since these unique priviledges are our's, Peter informs us in the text before us that there is a realization to which we must come and a code of conduct by which we must live. All of this is based upon what God has done for us in Christ. Peter sets these truths before us so that we might know we are not some commmunity organization set up by the plans of men but we are children of the Holy One redeemed by the precious blood of Christ and destined for glory.
