I would like for you to consider for a moment the statement you have before you which is found in our reading this morning — “God has visited His people!”

As you mull it over in your mind, what does it look like to you, what would you have experienced?

In the beginning of his gospel, the apostle John writes of “the Word” and tells us that this “Word was with God . . . was God” (John 1:1).

He adds that “He was in the beginning with God” and that “all things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being” (John 1:2, 3).

He further states that “in Him was life, and the life was the Light of men” (John 1:4).

Sadly, John tells us that even though He, “the Word,” “the Light of men” was “in the world and the world was made through Him . . . the world did not know Him” (John 1:10).

But then John tells us this, “and the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
