A New Day Has Dawned
I would like for you to look at yet another complaint lodged against Jesus, and His response.
I pray that we will see in His Words the hope in which our faith rests and the joy which should mark our journey heavenward.
Last week we saw how Jesus was criticized by the Pharisees and scribes for the people with whom He chose to eat and drink.
Levi, after being called by Jesus to follow Him, hosted a great reception for Jesus in his home and invited other tax collectors and friends to the occasion.
This brought the criticism of the Pharisees and scribes.
Jesus responded by telling them that “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick” (v. 31).
He then added, “ I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance” (v. 32).
Christ came seeking those who will admit they are sinners in need of a Savior.
“The Son of Man,” He would later say, “has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).
