When it comes to religious matters, where do people tend to go for their authority? By this I mean, to whom or what do people turn in order to determine what is right, what they should believe concerning the things of God?
Typically, there are four kinds of authority to which people submit:
  • a. The church.
  • b. Ecclesiastical decisions of men (delegates at conferences).
  • c. Conscience (I feel this is right).
  • d. Christ and His Word

He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. (John 12:48)

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
