Every year, the second Sunday in May is marked on our calendars as Mother’s Day. More phone calls are made on this day and more cards are sent out in order to express to our mothers our love and appreciation to them. The task of mother is never-ending. Neither is your influence in our lives, for as William Ross Wallace once wrote in a poem, “the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.” But to whom do mothers look for strength and encouragement. Ultimately, to Jesus Christ, but today, I want to share another woman found in God’s Word who serves as an example from which each mother here today can learn. I ask you to encourage them in their walk with God, not just today, but every day that you have them with you, for one day they will no longer be among us.
