God continually calls us to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:27).

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” (Matthew 5:44)

“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,” (Luke 6:27)

You and I have no merits by which we can impress God or put Him in our debt (Job 41:11; Romans 11:35).

“Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.” (Job 41:11)

“Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again?”
(Romans 11:35)

God still opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).

“But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”” (James 4:6)

“You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5)

Faith is acting on the word of God (Acts 8:12; Hebrews 11:6).

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
