Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NASB

This morning as each of us face a new year, I would like to encourage you to take to heart and put into practice those things we find in Hebrews 12:1-2 so that we all might be successful in reaching our eternal goal. Paul wrote of the joy of receiving the crown of righteousness which is promised to all who finish the course. You can’t finish the race if you have never entered, and you can’t receive the prize if you don’t run the race with endurance.
