Over 700 years before Mary spoke these words, God declared through his prophet Isaiah, “I, the Lord, am your Savior” (Isaiah 49:26; 60:16).  It was in this Savior that Mary now rejoiced.  You and I who are Christians here today do the same because, as the apostle Paul wrote in his second letter to Timothy, “God . . . has saved us and called us with a holy calling” (2 Timothy 1:8b, 9).  The truth is, God wants everyone to be saved (1 Timothy 2:3-4). His kindness, love, and mercy brought about our salvation (Titus 3:4-6). The truth is that God is our Savior, and we should rejoice in Him.
