There is one experience which I believe that all of us have in common. We have all been hurt by someone atone time or another — either by word, deed or oversight. How did you respond when this happened to you? Did you; Pout, Fight, Fume?
Have you ever tried forgiveness?
The starting-point of everything is the immense, undeserved love and forgiveness of God. We are able to count ourselves among the redeemed because of it. We have a hope of eternal life because of it.
The only proper response to such love is love for others — a love which reflects and spreads God’s love. We can’t begin to forgive others until we love them as our Lord loves them. It is the very essence of Christian discipleship not just to love your neighbor in the way you would like to be treated, but also in the way you have been treated by God (cf. John 15:12).
“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
