The events found in the Mark 11:1-11 took place on a Sunday, five days before our Lord was crucified. All four of the gospel writers record them. This morning, as we revisit the records of these events again as Christians have done time and again over the last, almost 2,000 years, I want us to get a true sense of what happened that day. I want us to see in our mind’s eye this momentous occasion and to hear the shouts of the crowd. But more than that I want each of us to contemplate in our mind who this man known as Jesus of Nazareth truly was.
It has been my prayer in preparation for this lesson that you will not be able to leave here this morning and soon forget the things you have heard, but that our great God will use the power of His Holy word to bring you to a humble confession of Jesus as “My Lord and My God” who is the “King of kings”.
