I imagine that all of us have had those times when life hands us thorns and we can’t seem to find the roses. Lemons and we don’t feel like making lemonade.
The truth is that there will be many days in our lives filled with struggles and frustration. When sorrow and heartache seems to weigh us down.
It may be that during those times we are like some of those to our south who having survived one hurricane and starting to rebuild find another close on its heels. How do we as Christians handle the storms of life? From where does our joy come? I say joy, because joy is different from happiness. Happiness tends to be based upon good circumstances.  Joy, on the other hand, comes from deep within and is not dependent upon external circumstances.
If there was ever anyone who had a reason to be sad and discouraged, it was the apostle Paul.
