I have often wondered what it would have been like to listen to Jesus teach. To stand and listen as He sat on a hillside in Galilee or in a boat being rocked by the lapping waves of the sea. What was the tone of His voice? Was He animated at times? Could you sense His passion for the things about which He spoke? Would I have been glued to every word, wanting to hear more about the coming kingdom?
It must have been like that for many on a particular day that Luke records for us in his gospel when something suddenly interrupted Him.
“Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.”
Jesus then gave these two brothers and the crowd that day a word of caution,
