“Except the Lord Build His Church”
What is our immediate reaction when we learn that a particular congregation is growing in leaps and bounds? A.) Rejoicing? B.) Suspicion? C.) Curiosity? In our lesson today, we find two of these reactions taking place: Curiosity and Rejoicing. Up to this time, those who turned to the Lord had been called "disciples" (6:1), "saints" (9:13), "brethren" (1:16; 9:30), "believers" (10:45) and the people "of the Way" (9:2). Now, because of their teaching and their presence were becoming so well known, people began calling them "Christians." Is it our goal to preach to people about the Lord, to encourage our brethren in the Lord and continue teaching them the things of the Lord? If so, then He will accomplish great things among us.
